Posted November 11, 2020 15:03:23Australia’s Crazy Cooks is closing its doors at the end of 2020, following the death of its co-owner and co-founder.
The popular online food store has been in business for eight years, and in 2017, the website was acquired by the online retailer Zappos, who has since expanded into grocery shopping, catering and hospitality.
The business, which has over 3.5 million users, has been operating at a loss for three years and was forced to close due to the cost of operating a new website.
The online store’s website has not been updated in the last two years, but the owner, who did not want to be named, said it would continue operating in an alternative format.
“I don’t know how to describe it,” he said.
“There’s no one to look up to.
I know that’s what a lot of people say, but it’s just not true.”
Mr D’Arcy said he and co. had been working on a new online grocery store and had been talking to a company about taking over the business for the past few months.
“We’re not going to sell to Zappons, we’re not selling to anybody else, but we are planning to do something a little bit different,” he told the ABC.
“If they want to come in, we’ll see what happens.”‘
We’ve got a lot on the plate’The company said it was “delighted to see so many people in this business go on and do so much for the community”.
“We’ve had a lot at the plate,” Mr D’Artys said.”[It’s] a good time to see all the other people coming in to support the business and the community.”
So we’re just really excited about the future.
“The closure of Crazy Delicious follows the death in February of co-Owner, John D’Avanso.
He was 78.
The former manager of the store, who also ran Crazy Cooking Australia, said Mr D-Avansos passing had left him with “no time for any more”.”
I lost a man that I worked with for seven years and he’s gone,” Mr Wren said.
Mr D-Artys has worked in the food business for more than 30 years and is now running a cooking business in Adelaide.”
It’s a pretty tough business to do it,” Mr Vignon said.
